CAMPER APPLICATION
July 13-25, 2008
NOTE: THIS IS A RESIDENTIAL CAMP. CAMPERS MUST
ARRIVE ON SUNDAY JULY 15, 2008 AND WILL REMAIN ON CAMPUS
UNTIL JULY 27. Students will go home on Friday
Afternoon, July 18 and return Sunday July 20.
Application Process:
BEFORE YOU CONTINUE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

a Mathematics Teacher

address and contact name for a letter of recommendation from
a Science Teacher

An essay
from the student explaining why he or she wants to attend
the BHSSC. (500 words max.)

The student
and one parent must complete this form online together.

Print out
the following forms and give the forms to the following:
The application form, records and letters of recommendation are
due by the deadline date, May 15, 2008. If we have not
received all requested documents by the deadline date, the
application will not be considered. You will receive written
notification on the status of the application.
Purpose:
The BHSSC is organized to provide activities, experiments,
projects, and field experiences to enrich students’ mathematics,
science, technology, and communication skills.
Program:
The BHSSC is a two-week academic, residential camp that
emphasizes increasing students’ mathematics/science skills,
introducing them to college life, and stimulating their interest
in science and engineering as a potential career path. Each day,
campers will attend classes that include problem solving, study,
research, writing and communication skills incorporated with
biology, chemistry, physics, design concepts, and field
excursions. Classes will be taught by certified classroom
teachers and university faculty.
Camp Location:
The camp will be held at the University of Central Florida.
Housing will be provided in a University of Central Florida
residential dormitory.
