- Members of traditionally
underrepresented population in science and
mathematics
- Be a rising 6th, 7th, or 8th
Grade Student
- Have a strong interest in
studying science and/or mathematics.
- Maintain a B average or higher
in all classes, including science and mathematics.
- Score at the median to superior
level on FCAT Science and Math tests.
- Complete an application
including a 250-500 word essay
- Be recommended by current
science and mathematics teachers.
- Must attend 3 follow-up meetings
during fall semester.

- Experience working with middle
school students
- Ability to develop enrichment
activities
- For Night Counselors, must
remain on campus and live in dorms (Hours 5pm - 8am)
- For Day Counselors, must be able
to maintain discipline for students during lunch and
while escorting students (8am to 5pm)
- For Junior Counselors, must have
attended a prior BHSSC at UCF.
- Possess good leadership
abilities and communication skills
- Provides a learning environment
to motivate youth.
- Must attend 3 follow-up meetings
during fall semester.
